A three-year-old coonhound named Lou has just made history with her 13-inch-long ears, which broke a Guinness World Record for Longest Ears on a Dog.
Lou’s owner -- Paige Olsen -- always joked that Lou’s ears are “extravagantly long.” And over the past year or so, Paige wondered how those floppy ears measured up to other dogs. Sure enough. They were record breaking.
Luckily, those ears, which hang low around Lou’s shoulders, don’t require much maintenance. Paige checks them once a month to make sure they’re clean -- and in winter, Lou wears a special hood so her ears don’t drag in the snow.
Paige says that that Lou gets attention wherever she goes -- and, of course, everyone wants to touch the ears ... which is just fine with the mild-mannered celebrity dog.
