John Lennon would've been 80 years old next Friday, Oct. 9. As we get ready to celebrate that, it's also almost time to mark the 40th anniversary of John Lennon's tragic death on Dec. 8. A new British-made documentary will look at his final days in New York.
Director Brian Grant drew from a over three hours of interviews John recorded for BBC Radio in New York the day before he was gunned down by Mark David Chapman in front of his apartment building.
While the conversation focused on his then-new album with Yoko Ono, Double Fantasy, John also touched on the break-up of The Beatles, how much he missed his hometown of Liverpool, his relationship with Paul McCartney and, with Ronald Reagan just six weeks from becoming president, the political situation in the U.S. and Britain.
Britbox, a BBC company, has the North American rights to Lennon's Last Weekend and will debut it in December.
