LISA'S ANIMAL TALES: NATIONAL KITTEN DAY

It's National Kitten Day! We celebrate our baby felines on July 10 each year, so it's the purrrfect time to show off pictures of your fur babies.

Above is a picture of my cat Reggie back when he was a kitten in 2013. He was part of a litter that was found on a farm. We adopted him from our vet.

When kittens are born, did you know they only weigh 3-4 ounces? And it takes them about three weeks to learn how to walk.

National Kitten Day is not only a great time to show off pictures of your kitten (or cat when they were a kitten), but also serves as an awareness campaign to help forever homes for the many homeless kittens born each year.

Another way to celebrate National Kitten Day is to contact your local animal shelter or rescue and adopt a kitten. Or maybe you want to foster a kitten, or volunteer your time with one of the many excellent organizations around the DMV.
