Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley and the onetime wife of The King of Pop Michael Jackson, has died at age 54.

  • Born February 1st, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee to Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
  • Parents were divorced when she was four and Elvis died when she was nine.
  • Grew up in L.A. with her mother, though often stayed with Elvis at Graceland, as well.
  • Released three well-received albums as a singer -- To Whom It May Concern in 2003 (when she was 35), Now What in 2005 and Storm & Grace in 2012.
  • Owned and operated Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005, when she sold the business.
  • Owned the Presley's Graceland estate in Memphis.
  • Married and divorced four times: to musician Danny Keough (1988-1994), to pop superstar Michael Jackson (1994-1996), to actor Nicolas Cage (2002-2004) and to musician and record producer Michael Lockwood (2006-2021).
  • Mother of four: Riley Keough (b. 1989); Benjamin Keough (1992-2020) and twin girls Harper and Finley Lockwood (b. 2008)

Born in Memphis on February 1st, 1968, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie moved to L.A. with her mother after her parents divorce when she was four. She continued to spend time with at Graceland with Elvis, as well, up until his death in 1977 when she was nine.

Shortly after he father died, she attended her first rock concert in L.A., Queen, and gave singer Freddie Mercury a scarf of her father's after the show. Although she was interested in music, she wouldn't launch her own recording career until she was 35 and her first two children had been born.

She later reported that she was sexually abused in her early teens by her mother's boyfriend at the time, actor Michael Edwards.

She was married and divorced four times: From 1988 to '94, to musician Danny Keough, with whom she had her first two children, Riley and Benjamin. From 1994 to '96 to Michael Jackson. who she'd first met when she was seven and became friendly with her mid-20s. They were married 20 days after her divorce with Keough was finalized.

Although Presley stood by Jackson during a time when he was beset by accusations of child molestation and was in failing health and addicted to drugs, their marriage eventually came apart under the strain. In 1999, she got engaged to Hawaiian-born musician John Oszajca, but broke it off after meeting actor Nicolas Cage at a party. Their marriage lasted only a couple of years.

It was during her time with Cage that she began her singing career, releasing her debut album, To Whom It May Concern in 2003. She worked with about a half dozen songwriters on the project, including Alanis Morissette collaborator Glen Ballard, but wrote virtually all the lyrics with the exception of one song, for which she co-wrote them. The album peaked at number-five on the Billboard 200 album chart.

Her follow-up two years later, Now What, saw her collaborating with Linda Perry, her soon-to-be-fourth- husband Michael Lockwood among others and included a cover of Don Henley's "Dirty Laundry" and a hidden-track version of the Ramones' "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow." It got to number-nine on the album chart.

Her final album, Storm & Grace was released in 2012, six years into her marriage to Lockwood and four years after her twins were born. It was produced by T Bone Burnett and featured three songs each by then-rising British performers Ed Harcourt and Richard Hawley. Although it was acclaimed critically, it had a more rootsy, less commercial, sound and stalled at number-45.

Presley lost her 27-year-old son Benjamin to a suicide in 2020, and she and Lockwood divorced in 2021, five years after she had first filed for it. On Tuesday, Lisa Marie and Priscilla attended the Golden Globes, where Austin Butler won an award for his portrayal of Lisa Marie's father in the film Elvis. Two days later (Thursday), Lisa Marie was hospitalized, with Priscilla confirming it on Instagram. According to multiple reports, cardiac arrest was suspected. Priscilla also confirmed Lisa Marie's death Thursday evening.
