A new name for Washington's NFL football team has a wildlife conservation group excited.
The chief scientist for Wildlands Network said the name is getting good momentum. The Red Wolf is an endangered species that only exists in North Carolina. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service there are only about 40 Red Wolves in the wild today. Advocates claim that naming the team after the endangered species would increase efforts to save it.
As of this morning, almost eight-thousand people signed a petition in support of the cause.
