Here's a perfect job for the ultimate Beatles fan. Britain's National Trust, which oversees historic buildings, is seeking a passionate fan to guide tourists through childhood homes in Liverpool of Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
Paul lived at 20 Forthlin in the Allerton neighborhood between ages 13 and 22, while Lennon resided at Mendips, a rowhouse in Woolton, between five to 22.
The buildings are more than homes -- experts say around 100 Beatles songs were written there.
The National Trust seeks an expert on early-period history to take over for Sylvia Hall, who has held the job at Forthlin for eight years. She says, "I’m always very aware I represent the McCartney family... I am very careful to do lots of research." Hall adds Paul's brother Mike McCartney "has been very helpful with stories about the house. You get questions thrown at you [such as] 'Where is Paul’s mum buried? [or] What type of tobacco did Paul’s dad Jim smoke in his pipe?"
Thousands of tourists have toured the homes, including musical legends Debbie Harry, James Taylor and Jackson Browne.
I was lucky enough to take this tour a few years back with my friend Debi. The photo was taken outside the front door at 20 Forthlin. Great tour!
