TMZ is shedding more light on Eddie Van Halen's health issues, reporting that he's been flying back and forth for five years from his Los Angeles home to Germany for radiation treatments for throat cancer.

Diagnosed close to 20 years ago with tongue cancer, which resulted in the removal of a third of his tongue, Eddie blamed the cancer on his metal guitar pick, which he would place in his mouth when he switched to finger picking, and not from smoking.

As we've previously reported, his health is one of the reasons why Van Halen has not toured these past few years, and at one point it was reportedly touch and go.
