Billy Joel has broken out various deep cuts and covers during his monthly run at New York's Madison Square Garden, but he went really deep during Thursday night's show.
He did "House of Blue Light," the B-side to 1989's "We Didn't Start the Fire." It's a track Joel had never done live, and before playing it he said, "This may lay like a lox, but we’re gonna give it a shot. Nobody knows this song, not even us. So let’s see if we can pull this off." After the performance Joel said, "That was interesting," and then led the band into a song everyone knew, "My Life."
