When you're Dave Grohl and you have your own rock festival, you can end it with a six-song set by Nirvana.
That's exactly what happened at Cal Jam on Saturday, as the Nirvana drummer was joined by their bassist, Krist Novoselic -- whose current band Giants in the Trees also played Cal Jam -- and fellow Foo Fighter Pat Smear plus two guest singers. First came John McCauley of Deer Tick for "Serve the Servant," "Scentless Apprentice" and "In Bloom." Then Joan Jett took over fronting the band on "Breed," "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "All Apologies."
