Bruce Springsteen opened his show Thursday night in Melbourne, Australia by telling the crowd that he and The E Street Band "stand before you embarrassed Americans tonight," before launching into a solo acoustic version of "Don't Hang Up," a 1962 song by The Orlons.
This was Bruce's latest jab at President Trump, this one stemming from the President's phone call with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, in which Trump hung up after the two disagreed over Turnbull's insistence that the U.S. stand by a refugee swap deal negotiated with President Obama.
And before the show, guitarist Steve Van Zandt tweeted, "Australia is, was and always will be one of the U.S.A.'s best friends and closest allies. Apologies for today's temporary embarrassment."
