It's Dave Grohl's Birthday!

David Grohl is celebrating a Birthday today!

The founder of Foo Fighters was born on this day way back in 1969 Man! By the age of 17, he joined the punk band Scream, and remained with the band till their eventual beak up in 1990. That’s when he met Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, and become the drummer for Nirvana. Together the three would record Nirvana’s second album, “Nevermind” and rocket into the mainstream forever changing the face rock music.

After the success of their 3rd album “In Utero,”  Nirvana would come to an end following the death of Kurt Cobain. Dave would team up with then Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear who himself was a punk legend from his time in The Germs, and the two would join with the rhythm section of Sunny Day Real Estate to form the supergroup Foo Fighters. Since that time the band has released 11 albums, and maintained the banner of rock music through the lean years of popularity that has existed in the genre since the pop and hio-hop explosion of the 2010’s.

Grohl has also been involved in side projects as the co-founder of the rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, and Queens of the Stone Age founder Josh Homme, who he also recorded with, as well as Tenacious D. He also has been directing the Foo Fighters music videos since 1997, and released his debut documentary, Sound City, which was followed by the documentary miniseries Sonic Highways. In 2021 he directed the documentary film What Drives Us and released an autobiography, The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music. In 2022, he and the Foo Fighters would star as themselves in the comedy horror film Studio 666 and continue to release music and tour to this day.

Rolling Stone magazine has ranked Grohl as the 27th-best drummer of all time, and Dave is a rare two time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of Nirvana and a member of Foo Fighters.

Happy Birthday Dave!
