Throughout its 35-year history, Therrien Waddell has leveraged its expertise in construction planning and management to bring clients’ visions to reality. The TW team prides itself on being a partner from the earliest stages of pre-construction planning to project turnover and beyond.

Coupled with decades of commercial construction experience is TW’s diverse project portfolio, which includes office interiors, retail, institutional, educational, medical/lab, industrial and data center work through the Washington, DC metro region. In the course of building this portfolio, TW has managed new construction, complex renovations, tenant interiors as well as site development projects. The industry partnerships forged, and the diversity of construction performed, has allowed TW to stay nimble in a competitive and ever-changing construction industry.

Matt joined TW as a Superintendent in 2004 and personally managed daily activities and safety on his assigned sites. To build upon his field experience, he transferred to a project management role and gradually worked his way up to VP of Operations, where he led the company’s estimating and project management teams. Matt now serves as President, having succeeded TW’s founders, Jerry Therrien and Donnie Waddell, who retired earlier this year.

Matt grew up in Reston, VA and developed his competitive nature while excelling in multiple sports through high school. He played basketball at the College of Wooster prior to transferring and ultimately graduating from James Madison University (Go Dukes!). His lifelong motivation to win and succeed continues at TW as he builds upon and expands the company’s record of success.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending as much time with as possible with his wife, daughter and their two dogs in Herndon, VA. He also enjoys hacking up local golf courses and, in the process, donating golf balls to the local woods, creeks, and ponds. Matt’s favorite getaways are the Outer Banks and Deep Creek Lake.
