The sales of three Metallica albums are helping out a music school.
Ray Burton, the 92-year-old father of the band's late bassist Cliff Burton, takes the royalty checks he receives from Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets and donates them to fund a music scholarship at Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, California. It's the school Cliff Burton attended before joining Metallica.
Ray Burton told the Metallica podcast Alphabetallica, "The kids that have won it thank me for it. I think Cliff probably would have done that with his money, because he was not against education by any means. He liked it very much."
