Chris Cornell Is Dead
Absolutely stunning news overnight as it’s been confirmed that Chris Cornell has died. He was just 52. According to a statement from his representatives, Cornell’s death was “sudden and unexpected” and the family is asking for privacy as they try and figure out what happened. He was in Detroit to perform with Soundgarden.
Hours before his passing, Cornell tweeted that he was excited to be performing there.
Detroit police say the sudden death is being investigated as a "possible suicide." Chris was found unresponsive late last night in his hotel room. Investigators say while there is a possibility Cornell took his own life, they're "waiting on the medical examiner to determine the cause and manner of death."
Here's Soundgarden performing "Black Hole Sun" at last night's show.
As frontman for Soundgarden, Audioslave & Temple Of The Dog, Cornell was considered one of the founders of the “grunge” movement.” Chris is survived by his wife, Vicky, as well as their children, daughter Toni, and son Christopher. His daughter, Lillian Jean, is from a previous marriage.
Here's "Spoonman" from last night's show. Sadly, part of Chris' last performance.
