Very few rock stars ever get to interview their mothers in public, but Dave Grohl became one of them on Saturday at the L.A. Times Festival of Books.
The head Foo Fighter chatted with new author Virginia Hanlon Grohl about her new book, From Cradle to Stage: Stories From the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars. For it, Mrs. Grohl spoke to a bunch of other rock star moms.
In this video, the two talk about a time Virginia coerced Dave, who'd only been playing drums for a year at the time, into sitting in with a bunch of professional jazz musicians at a Washington, D.C. club.
She also talks about a couple of her favorite interviews for the book -- with Geddy Lee of Rush's 93-year-old mom, and with Dr. Dre's mother.
