Georgetown is hearkening back to the glory years of its basketball program. The Washington, D.C. school has just hired Patrick Ewing as its head coach.
Before going on to become an NBA great, Ewing led the Hoyas to three appearances in the national championship game and one title back in the early '80s. Since retiring as a player, he's been an assistant coach in the NBA, most recently with the Charlotte Hornets -- and was considered by many insiders to be on track for a head-coaching job in the league.
Ewing replaces the recently fired John Thompson the Third, who's also the son of Ewing's coach when he was at Georgetown, the legendary John Thompson.
