Former Yes singer Jon Anderson said something he shouldn't have to Billboard about the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 7th in Brooklyn, New York.
He said that Geddy Lee of Rush, who will join his bandmate Alex Lifeson to induct Yes, would also be playing bass on "Roundabout" in place of the late Chris Squire. The Hall, which never announces what will be performed, quickly issued the following statement:
“Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson were only confirmed to do the induction speech for one of their favorite bands and not perform. They, like all the other Yes fans, look forward to honoring them and watching them perform at the induction ceremony on April 7th and the HBO broadcast on April 29th.”
Of course, as in years past, many a presenter has found himself or herself on stage taking part in the end-of-the-night jam, so stay tuned.
And in Geddy news, his love of baseball has been turned into a T-shirt. Instead of the official Major League Baseball logo having the outline of the late Minnesota Twins slugger Harmon Killebrew, it now has an outline of Geddy playing bass with the caption, "Major Lee Bassball." You can link to the shirt through the Rush Facebook page. Here's a pic of the shirt.
