Actor BILL PAXTON passed away on Saturday (Video)

BILL PAXTON passed away on Saturday.  He was only 61.  In a statement, his family said he died of complications from surgery. TMZ says it was heart surgery, and he had a fatal stroke after it was over.

He was in "The Terminator" . . . then he played the bully Chet in "Weird Science", Private Hudson in "Aliens", Morgan Earp in "Tombstone", the used car salesman Simon in "True Lies" . . .

The astronaut Fred Haise in "Apollo 13"and the present-day treasure hunter Brock Lovett in "Titanic".  He also starred in "Twister", "Near Dark", "One False Move", "A Simple Plan", and "Frailty", which he directed.

He starred on the HBO show "Big Love". He got an Emmy nomination for the miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys" and he had a lead role on the new "Training Day" show.

It premiered earlier this month, and he'd completed production on the entire first season back in December. The show isn't expected to get a second season.

Director James Cameron worked with Bill often, including the movies "Aliens", "Terminator", "True Lies", "Titanic", and "Ghosts of the Abyss".

James said, quote, "He took good care of his relationships with people, always caring and present for others.  He was a good man, a great actor, and a creative dynamo.  

"I hope that amid the gaudy din of Oscar night, people will take a moment to remember this wonderful man, not just for all the hours of joy he brought to us with his vivid screen presence, but for the great human that he was. The world is a lesser place for his passing, and I will profoundly miss him."
