Bruce Springsteen has gone from signing absentee school notes for young fans in his audience to inviting them on stage.
The latest honorary member of The E Street Band was 11-year old Hayley Dockrill, who he brought up on Tuesday night in Christchurch, New Zealand to play drums.
She's not a drummer, but she slid right in alongside Max Weinberg to bang away on "Dancing in the Dark."
Afterwards her father told The New Zealand Herald, "It was perfectly in tune, but I don't know how she did it because we don't have any musical ability."
In addition to a huge smile, Hayley left the stage with a signed drumstick.
Bruce wraps up his tour Down Under on Saturday in Auckland, New Zealand. And, if all goes according to plan, it will be the last E Street Band show for at least two years, since Bruce plans to release a solo album.
