Watch Metallica and Lady Gaga's Grammy Performance with James Hetfield's Audio (Video)

The METALLICA / LADY GAGA performance at the Grammys was marred by JAMES HETFIELD's microphone not working for the first few minutes.

But now, there's this video (below) of what it should've sounded like.  It looks legit - although it's unclear what it is. A Romanian Metallica fan club called 'RoLoad' posted it, and they say it's from a web feed that had working audio.  It's weird that the sound would've been cool online but not on TV -  but whatever.

Rumor has it that James' microphone was off because a stagehand unplugged something under the stage for some reason, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Regardless, LARS ULRICH isn't hung up on it. He dismissed it as a "slight technical snafu," and instead talked about how thrilled they were to work with Gaga.

He said, quote, "[She' the] quintessential perfect fifth member of this band.  Her voice, her attitude, her outlook on everything is so awesome . . . We've already started fast-forwarding to the next chapter when we can do more . . . we're just getting started."
