Grammy Awards Nominees For This Sunday

The 59th annual Grammy Awards are this Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and this year's show features the least amount of classic rock in a very long time. The leading nominees are Adele and Beyonce and a bunch of other kids.

Though Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and U2 would quite regularly be worked into the telecast, the closest we come to a classic rock act this year is Metallica, who will perform with Lady Gaga. 

David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel are up for awards, but they will all be handed out during the pre-telecast. However, if you're keeping score, here's a rundown of classic rock nominees:

Best Spoken Word Album (Includes Poetry, Audio Books and Storytelling)

  • M Train - Patti Smith
  • Unfaithful Music and Disappearing Ink - Elvis Costello

Best Musical Theater Album

  • Kinky Boots - Numerous producers including Cyndi Lauper, who is also the composer and lyricist

Best Song Written for Visual Media

  • "The Veil" - Peter Gabriel - Track from Snowden

Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package

  • Tug of War (Deluxe Edition) - Paul McCartney - award goes to the art directors

Best Historical Album

  • The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series, Volume 12 - Bob Dylan - award goes to the producers

Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical

  • Blackstar - David Bowie - Bowie and other engineers
  • Hit N Run Phase Two - Prince - Prince and other engineers

Best Remixed Recording

  • "Nineteen Hundred Eighty-Five" - Paul McCartney and Wings - award goes to the producers

Best Music Film

  • The Beatles: Eight Days a Week: The Touring Years - Ron Howard and others
