Anthony Kiedis says Red Hot Chili Peppers music is so wide-ranging that the band is willing and able to share a stage with anybody -- well, almost.
In a radio interview done just before last week's show at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena, Kiedis was asked about whether the band would play with anyone from, say, Metallica to Dave Matthews Band. That drew an immediate laugh. Kiedis said, "It does make sense, but we turned down the invitation to play with Dave Matthews. Nothing personal, but that's one we turned down."
He insists that the Chili Peppers "can play with anybody, but we can also play anything...Our influences and inspirations were anything goes, and we were never afraid to be as soft as possible, or as hard as possible, or a little bit jazz-inspired, or whatever."
