Billy Gibbons revealed that Ozzy Osbourne once turned a party at the Sunset Marquis into a potentially dangerous all-nighter.
In the new documentary If These Walls Could Rock, the ZZ Top rocker remembered being with Ozzy by the pool at the legendary West Hollywood hotel when the Black Sabbath frontman suggested they start smashing glasses.
According to Gibbons, Ozzy had been inspired by a restaurant where guests would toss their glasses at the end of the night.
Gibbons initially pointed out that plenty of people around the pool were barefoot, but that didn’t stop the late music icon. After he smashed his glass, everyone else joined in.
“Within 30 seconds, every glass that had been surrounding the pool was now in shatters,” Gibbons recalled. “And it became so dangerous that nobody could leave.”
The unexpected result? The party kept going “until the wee hours.”
Ozzy, who died in July 2025 at age 76, had a long history with the Sunset Marquis. Sharon and Kelly Osbourne also appear in the documentary, recalling how the family frequently stayed at the hotel while Ozzy toured the U.S.
If These Walls Could Rock is available on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.
