The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly considering signing veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz.
"Sources: The #Vikings have had discussions with former #Titans QB Ryan Tannehill about a potential deal. Talks are ongoing and nothing is imminent as of right now, sources tell @NFLonFOX," Schultz wrote on his X account Friday (March 21).
The Vikings have reportedly been in contact with Tannehill, 36, amid their decision not to pursue former four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers and instead stick with former first-round draft pick J.J. McCarthy as their starter in 2025. The decision to pass on Rodgers came after Sam Darnold, who started all 17 regular season games and one playoff game in 2024, signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
Tannehill has a career record of 81-70 in his 11-year NFL career, which includes a 39-24 record with the Tennessee Titans during the last five seasons. The former Texas A&M standout took over for former No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota in 2019 during a season that resulted in the Titans being eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game during their first of three Super Bowl championships.
Tannehill, a former first-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins, has thrown for 34,881 yards, 216 touchdowns and 115 interceptions on 3,063 of 4,764 passing during his NFL career.
