FAIRFAX 'OUT OF THE DARKNESS WALK' FOR AFSP

September is Suicide Prevention Month - a time to raise awareness about suicide and those affected by suicide.

At the forefront of suicide prevention year-round is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Throughout September and October there are dozens of 'Out of the Darkness' walks hosted by AFSP chapters across the country.

I'll be out at the Fairfax OOTD walk on Sunday, September 29. More details below and at AFSP.org/Fairfax

You can also find out about other community walks at AFSP.org

I spoke with Ellen Shannon, Executive Director for the National Capital Area Chapter of AFSP, about the upcoming walks, the important programs her organization offers, the changes she's seen in the approach to mental health in recent years, and the formation 988, the national suicide prevention hotline.

Check out our conversation above.
