Have you ever seen your dog twitching or kicking in their sleep, obviously having some kind of dream, and wondered what they could possibly be dreaming about?

Researchers at MIT believe they have the answer, and it's one that you're going to love – because they're probably dreaming of you.

The researchers say dogs experience dreams that reflect their daily lives, so they may be dreaming about chasing a ball, playing with their favorite toy, or just spending time with you. But just like humans, they also sometimes have nightmares, which is why you might sometimes hear a little growl in their sleep. Experts say when this happens, you should leave them alone and not try to comfort them, because they could react aggressively.

Research also finds that puppies and much older dogs seem to dream a lot more than middle-aged dogs. Smaller dogs have shorter dreams and larger dogs have longer dreams.
