A stingray residing at an aquarium in North Carolina has been a real freak in the tank, but no one can figure out with whom.
Charlotte is the only stingray in the tank, which is a very important fact to remember because she also happens to be pregnant. Workers at the Team ECCO Aquarium and Shark Lab in Hendersonville, North Carolina are completely stumped. Charlotte has never been in a tank with another stingray, but does share it with a couple of white-spotted bamboo sharks named Larry and Moe. One possible explanation is that Charlotte somehow made sweet, interspecies love with one of the sharks, which would be very unlikely. There's also the small possibility that she somehow impregnated herself, which is extremely rare but actually not impossible.
The good news is, the answer should come soon because Charlotte is about to give birth any day now. Genetic tests on the pups will reveal whether they are stingrays or some type of stingray-shark hybrid.
If she did mate with one of the sharks, which one is the father? Larry or Moe?
