Green Day's breakthrough album, Dookie, turns 30 years old today. Where has the time gone?

The summer of '94, I was listening to this album over and over again.

Released on February 1st, 1994, it produced five alternative radio hits, the first four of which were released as singles: "Longview" (number-one), "Welcome to Paradise" (number-seven), "Basket Case" (number-one), "When I Come Around" (number-one) and "She" (number-five).

Dookie sold more than 20 million copies worldwide and over 10 million in the U.S. alone, getting it a Diamond certification from the RIAA.

In an interview shortly after the album catapulted them to success, drummer Tre Cool and bassist Mike Dirnt stressed that theirs was no overnight success story.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said they weren't even in the country when Dookie began to blow up on the radio.

Green Day with perform the Dookie album in its entirety, as well as the American Idiot album at their show at Nationals Park on July 29. Tickets on sale now, and listen to BIG 100 to win tickets!
