Season’s first general manager hire: Commanders are hiring 49ers’ assistant GM Adam Peters as their general manager. Peters won Super Bowls while working in New England and Denver, and has been in SF since 2017, helping build one of the NFL’s top rosters. Peters, 44, will be part of Washington's coaching search. Prior to his time with the 49ers, the California native spent eight years with the Broncos, first as a scout and then as director of college scouting, when he helped identify future Denver Pro Bowlers like Justin Simmons and Chris Harris. He began his NFL career as a Patriots scout, serving in that role from 2003-2008, a span in which New England won two Super Bowls.
Washington’s existing front office now will be evaluated in the coming day, per sources, but the Commanders now have their new general manager in Adam Peters.
