Nationwide Pet Insurance has announced the finalists for this year's Hambone Award.
If you're not familiar with it, the Hambone Award goes to the most unusual pet insurance claim of the year. Pets get hurt all the time, and sometimes the circumstances of the injury are so unbelievable that Nationwide just had to share them with the world.
Last year's Hambone Award winner was Rafa, a Siberian mix cat from Seattle who was rescued after falling 45 feet down a drainpipe. All finalists have successfully recovered from their injuries. Here are some of this year's finalists:
- Sunny -- A Labrador retriever who shimmied his crate five feet across the floor to an electrical outlet where he ate three phone chargers.
- Miko -- A cat that suffered an eye injury when he was bitten by a dove.
- Bernie -- A French bulldog that was accidentally run over by his owner's ATV.
- Giles -- A cat who was injured when he accidentally got folded up inside a convertible sofa bed.
Voting is open now through Friday and a winner will be announced on September 28th.
