Great Britain's Department for Digital, Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) has released a "Coronation Celebration Playlist," of 27 songs that presumably mean something to the King Charles the Third as we approach his May 6th coronation date at Westminster Abbey.
They range in vintage from three songs from the '60s -- Tom Jones's "Green, Green Grass of Home," The Kinks' "Waterloo Sunset" and The Beatles' "Come Together" -- to last year's British Eurovision Song Contest entry by Sam Ryder, "Space Man," Ed Sheeran's "Celestial," written for the game Pokeman Scarlet and Violet, and the newest song, "Dance All Over Me" by George Ezra, which was released last September 30th, one day after Sheeran's came out.
In between, there are classics from the '70's by The Who, Queen, ELO and Elton John; the '80s by Madness, David Bowie, Kate Bush and Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart; just one from the '90s, "Say You'll Be True" by The Spice Girls and 21st century songs by The Pet Shop Boys, Ellie Goulding, Michael Bublé, Coldplay and Harry Styles.
