According to VarietyThe Beatles and The Rolling Stones have come together.

The magazine "hears from multiple sources that Paul McCartney has recorded bass parts for a forthcoming Rolling Stones project being helmed by 2021 Grammy producer of the year Andrew WattRingo Starr is also slated to play on the yet-to-be-announced album." The sessions took place in Los Angeles.

A spokeswoman for the Stones tells us. "Sorry, nothing to share," while representatives for McCartney and Ringo have not commented, so let the speculating begin.

  • McCartney has also been working with Andrew Watt, so the report has that going for it.
  • With Charlie Watts dying in 2021, why not have his friend and longtime rival Ringo play on a track or two?
  • With the Stones -- Mick JaggerKeith Richards and Ronnie Wood -- having a combined age of 233, it's a pretty safe bet that this will be their last album. And, with McCartney and John Lennon writing the Stones' second single and first hit, 1963's "I Wanna Be Your Man," it's a nice tip of the hat to come full circle with the two surviving Beatles on the album.

If true, it won't be the first time a Beatle appeared on a Stones song and vice-versa.

In 1967, Lennon and McCartney sang background vocals on the Stones’ single “We Love You.”

It was also in 1967 that Stones' guitarist Brian Jones played saxophone on The Beatles' “You Know My Name (Look Up the Number),” which was released in 1970.

And in 1968, Lennon was part of the Stones' Rock and Roll Circus film.

When this new album is finished, this will be the first Stones album of original material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.

Their last studio album was 2016's Blue & Lonesome, a collection of blues covers.
