LISA'S ANIMAL TALES: MISSING CAT RETURNS HOME AFTER 6 YEARS

Jessica Kinsey of Sacramento, California, adopted a kitten named Lily about 13 years ago. Lily was living a good life with Jessica – and was allowed to play both inside the house and outside.

Then one day in 2017, Lily took a stroll outside – and never returned.

For months, Jessica checked local shelters and kept an eye on social media posts, hoping to hear news about her beloved Lily. No luck. It seemed Lily was gone, leaving Jessica to simply wish Lily was with someone who was treating her right.

And wouldn’t you know it? Last month, a stray cat was brought to the Sacramento SPCA. It was Lily – and Jessica was contacted, thanks to Lily’s microchip.

Jessica had an emotional reunion with Lily at the SPCA shelter on New Year’s Eve. She’s excited to spend 2023 – and many years in the future – with her beloved cat.

And even though Lilly has been missing for six years, Jessica says it seems like nothing has changed.

"I'm like petting her, talking to her and I think, 'Oh, my gosh. It's really Lily. She still looks exactly the same.'"
