Back in 2018, the Geary County Sheriff's Office in Kansas rescued a dog named Nova near an interstate freeway.
The officers cared for Nova and trained her to become a K-9 partner to Captain Justin Stopper.
But Nova's training wasn't finished. She continued -- and last week, Nova was certified as a national narcotics detector dog.
Even though Nova has specific, high-level skills, she has maintained an important connection with the people she serves. According to members of the sheriff's office, she is great with adults and kids -- and does a great job serving as an ambassador in the community.
