TV has given us competitions to find the best singer, the best dancer, the best wall climber -- so why not the best writer?
That's the concept of America's Next Great Author, a new show that aims to find the next Stephen King or Jane Austen.
Producers are going to go coast to coast to scope out folks who have the write stuff -- and who can pitch their skills in a one-minute presentation.
According to the Guardian, Six contestants will be chosen and locked into a "writer's retreat." They have to go in with just an idea, no notes at all, and come out with a finished book.
The pilot episode will be filmed on October 30th.
