Mr. Happy Face, a 17-year-old Chinese Crested-Chihuahua mix with with a punk hairdo and long tongue hanging out of his mouth, was crowned the winner of the 2022 World's Ugliest Dog Contest on Friday in Petaluma, California.
Mr. Happy Face's owner, Janeda Banelly, says she adopted the looker last year from a shelter in Arizona after he was rescued from a hoarder's house. At the time, she was told that Mr. Happy Face was in poor health and had multiple tumors and was given about a month to live. Banelly says, "He was the happiest creature that I had ever met. He hobbled up to me and chose me. I vowed that day, he would be so loved that he would never remember how awful his previous life had been.”
