I'm not much of a hobbyist, but I would imagine performing any sort of activity that involves risking your life requires an extra level of preparation.
For example, if you are into base jumping, you might want to double-check your parachute is attached to your body. Better yet, quadruple check. Because such a lapse would instantly result in death.
This dude nearly jumps to his demise but a couple of this dude's friends are nearby and notice an error on his part.
