A Kansas public school teacher resigned on the spot and used her time in front of the School Board to rip the choices they had made recently regarding the treatment of teachers.
Amanda Coffman explained why she would no longer teach at Indian Woods Middle School after months of failed contract negotiations resulted in a non-negotiable contract from the Shawnee Mission School Board being forced on teachers. Apparently, the schools had been given extra funding, but not a single cent was used to increase wages for the already underpaid teachers.
Although some people seemed upset at Coffman for pulling the "stunt" and abandoning her students during the school year over pay, Coffman insists "it's not about the money" and was moreso over the lack of good-faith negotiations and lack of professionalism from the School Board.
