A defendant on trial for a burglary charge brought the court to an abrupt halt on Friday just before the closing arguments were set to be made, according to court officials.
33-year-old Dorleans Philidor, sitting in a wheelchair, allegedly defecated into his hand and "cast feces" inside the courtroom towards Judge Lisa Walsh. Lawyers and Walsh quickly left the courtroom. Philidor yelled "It's protein! It's good for you!" and ate some of the feces, according to witnesses.
A video posted to Instagram shows the aftermath of the incident and the man who shot the video says, "It was intense. The corrections officers were swarming. Like 60 of them. They told everyone to leave and you couldn't go back in. It was a hazardous area."
The judge moved the closing arguments to another courtroom as the other one was being cleaned. Philidor was found to be not guilty of the burglary charge but he still faces a separate trial in regards to a grand theft auto case.
