The Cranberries To Split After Releasing Final Album With Dolores O'Riordan

The Cranberries' guitarist Noel Hogan has revealed that the group will split following the release of their next album, In The End, which is scheduled to drop in 2019.

In a new interview, Hogan said that the band will release the forthcoming LP, the last project that involved the late Dolores O'Riordan, but it will be the group's last album. "Dolores had an awful lot going on and she was on a roll of being able to write. Lyrically, the new album is very strong," he explained to The Guardian. "She always said she found it hard to write songs when she was happy. She always said, put a bit of misery in her life and it was easier."

"We will do this album and then that will be it. There is no need to continue," he continued. O'Riordan was found dead in a London hotel room in January and, earlier this month, her death was ruled an accidental drowning in a bathtub due to alcohol intoxication. She was 46.

Meanwhile, Mike Hogan, Noel's brother, explained that the recording of this project was vastly different than previous efforts as the band worked in the studio during the day and O'Riordan added her vocals overnight. "We'd pass each other in the corridor," he recalled. "Dolores would say, 'You know that thing you recorded?' I'd say, 'You mean the thing that took me five hours to get right?' She'd say, 'Yeah, it's not working!' This time around, there were nights when we were waiting, looking for her to come in the door."
