BEATLES: WAS APPLE'S LOGO PORNOGRAPHIC?

"Hey Jude" was almost canceled before it was released!

Hard to believe, but The Beatles most successful U.S. single almost never made to stores -- and not because of a problem with the song. A newly discovered letter sent by Capitol Records president Stan Gortikov to Apple executive  Ron Kass details a story we'd never heard before.

The blog BeatlesInLondon.com reports the problem was the Apple Records logo. Capitol, which distributed The Beatles' label, was told by some local record men that the trademark looked like a vagina and would be considered pornographic.

We don't know how far the dialogue traveled. But the logo was not changed -- and was used on the band's classics from "Hey Jude" through "The Long and Winding Road," all of which sold impressively.
