Bob Dylan never finished two dozen songs that became known as the "Basement Tapes."  Dylan recorded the songs with The Band in a large house in upstate New York known as Big Pink.

The songs were never finished, but bootlegs began circulating in the late 1960s and early 1970s.  Eventually, they were officially released in 1975.

Now, producer T Bone Burnett has gotten permission from Dylan to finish the songs.  Burnett has put together an incredible group of musicians to finish the songs.

The musicians are Mumford and Sons' Marcus Mumford, Elvis Costello, My Morning Jacket's Jim James, Carolina Chocolate Drops' Rhiannon Giddens, and Dawes' Taylor Goldsmith.

Burnett tells the LA Times, "These are not B-level Dylan lyrics...They’re lyrics he just never got around to finishing.”

The album is expected to release later in the year.  There will also be a Showtime special.
