Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea will write a memoir that will chronicle his early life and his time with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Grand Central Publishing has not announced a release date.

Flea is writing the book himself.  In a press release he said, "I love literature deeply.  I view books as sacred things, and in writing my story, I'm going to do my best to honor the form that has played such a huge part in shaping who I am."

He will write about his upbringing in the suburbs of New York and his move to Los Angeles where he became friends with Anthony Kiedis.  There will also be stories of drugs and 30 years of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Kiedis, the Red Hot Chili Peppers front-man, released his own autobiography, Scar Tisue, in 2004.
