A movie on the life of The Allman Brothers Band and Gregg Allman will start production in February.  The film will be called Midnight Rider and is based on Gregg's autobiography, My Cross to Bear.

The movie's script has to be to Allman's liking.  The legendary musician has final say over the film.  He tells Rolling Stone, "I have veto rights over everything...Think about it, man.  If you had them doing your life story on the big screen, wouldn't you want to be able to erase anthing out of there that you didn't want?  I can pull the plug any time."

All American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter will portray Gregg Allman.  Wyatt Russell will play Gregg's late brother Duane.

The film will follow two parts of Allman's life: His early years through the formation and breakthrough of the Allman Brothers Band and struggle to get clean after years of drug and alcohol abuse.
